NAME: Jonas Grissemann
KSI RANK: Kadua Guro
Trains at: Epic Training Centre, Trollhättan, Sweden
Has trained Kali Sikaran since: Late 2004
First FMA instructor: Katalungan Guro Heikki Martikainen
Started to train Kali Sikaran because: I was very interested in the close quarter range that Wing Chun practiced, and found out that the Kali Sikaran curriculum was more wide in that area.
Favourite part of Kali Sikaran: The close quarter range, the empty hand
Strives to be better in: To be able to change between the different ranges that we have in the system
I choose to train KSI because: It covers all the areas, all from long range to short range distances in just a split second
Teaching philosophy: It’s just as important to educate the left side as well as your right side of your body when you train Martial arts, somehow that part seems to be forgotten sometimes
Future plans in KSI training: To grow both as an instructor and as a student and be the best I can be. And eventually grade to Madunong Guro in the future when the time is right both mentally and physicaly
Future plans in general: To have the honor to see my both children (boys) to grow up and be the best they can be in life
Additional ranks in other martial arts: Brown with a black stripe in Kombatan Arnis Presas style, green belt in Judo
Biggest martial arts Role model/inspiration(s): Have to Say Heikki Martikainen as he have helped me to mentally be where I am today in Kali sikaran. I see things differently now than I first did when I started to train. And both Punong Guros Johan Skålberg and Jeff Espinous for that they have shown me that almost anything is possible when you train.
Competition experience: In my young years I did 3 judo matches, won medal in everyone
